Kaş

A long time home to poets, musicians and artists, Kaş is a buzzing and bustling Mediterranean town set into the hillside. Lying just 20km from Kalkan along a spectacular winding coastal road is Kaş, which translates in Turkish to ‘eyebrow’ for the glorious sweeping shape of the peninsula. This vibrant harbour town, somewhat larger than Kalkan, was formerly named ‘Antiphellos’ in Lycian times and ancient ruins, including a particularly impressive sarcophagus in the centre, are scattered throughout the town.

Kaş enjoys the best of both worlds, with a luxurious yacht marina to one side, and a unique old town centre with a bohemian feel. While away your evenings people watching in the town square that hosts trendy little bars and live music venues. The winding cobbled streets, brimming with age-old Greek architecture are home to many an artist, with beautiful boutiques selling unique products from handmade jewellery to beautiful clothing and gifts, perfect for an evenings shopping.

You can sample some of Turkeys renowned cuisine in many of the local restaurants here, ranging in price from humble local meze to speciality fine dining overlooking the glittering lights of the energetic harbour as the fishermen haul in their daily catch. With beach clubs abound and water taxis to local bays, Kaş offers fantastic swimming opportunities as well as plenty of other activities such as snorkelling, diving, paragliding and kayaking. Kaş also benefits from being perfectly poised for a day trip to the stunning neighbouring Greek island of Meis or ‘Kastellorizo’, or perhaps you would like to visit the natural beauty of Kekova and learn the tale of the mystical ruins of the sunken city.
